On Saturday, June 8, the Baynesfield Estate will be hosting Vintage Baynesfield: Art on the Fringe.
Around 15 artists will exhibit their art in the beautiful Baynesfield gardens and some stalls will sell collectables. Mark Schonau will be busking to keep the visitors entertained and there will be the usual vintage tractor and machinery displays and woodcrafters demonstrating their antique woodworking tools. There will be food for sale as well.
A special part of the day will be the South African Quilters 5th National Travelling Quilt exhibition, of 38 quilts, ranging from traditional work to pieces by fibre artists. The exhibition has been travelling around the country and this will be the last chance to see it in KwaZulu-Natal. The theme of the exhibition is Don’t be so Square, and a look at the catalogue shows why. The quilts are explosions of colour — some geometric, some pictorial and all fascinating.
Entrance to the Vintage Baynesfield day is R20 per adult and R5 for children under 12.
