CAPE TOWN — Winnie Madikizela-Mandela will have surgery today on a wrist she broke in a fall at her home on Thursday.
It is understood that Madikizela-Mandela (75) was climbing the stairs to her room when she slipped and fell. Although falls can often have serious consequences for elderly people, it is believed that this fall was not too serious, as Madikizela-Mandela was walking afterwards and only went to hospital on Saturday.
It has already been a tough year healthwise for Madikizela-Mandela, who had a knee replacement in January.
