SHERYL Cwele, whose drug trafficking trial has been postponed to December, has been attending work at the Hibiscus Coast Municipality (HCM) in Uvongo ever since the trial was put on hold.

This was confirmed, by the senior manager for mayoralty and communications, Simon Soboyisa.

“It is correct to say that she was at work immediately after the case was rescheduled,” he said.

Cwele was granted leave for the duration of her trial and will keep her position as director of health and community services as long as it lasts.

The HCM said in an earlier statement that Cwele will be forced to take unpaid leave if she uses up her annual leave days.

She will appear in the high court in Pietermaritzburg again on December 13.
