CAPE TOWN — Orlando Pirates mentor Roger De Sa’s job could be in jeopardy if Pirates again fail to bag silverware this weekend.

Pirates lost 3-2 to Bloemfontein Celtic last Saturday in their PSL clash at the Orlando Stadium — their second league defeat in five games this season.

De Sa, a former Bidvest Wits goalkeeper, has been under pressure since taking over at Pirates from Augusto Palacios in September last year, when the club also went on to finish the season trophyless.

The Kick-Off website cited a club source as saying De Sa’s future doesn’t look good, with the club already having identified a new coach who could take the reins as early as January next year.

Despite De Sa’s tremendous performance in this year’s Caf Champions League, when Pirates finished as runners-up, Bucs supporters are already calling for his head and the miseries are likely to continue, should they lose to Platinum Stars in the Telkom Knock-out Cup final this weekend.

The Sea Robbers will be playing their third consecutive cup final on Saturday. They lost 3-1 on penalties to Allan Freese’s Stars side in the MTN8 tournament back in September, before missing out on the continental crown early last month when they lost to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

It remains to be seen where De Sa will be after the final instalment of the R4,25 million competition for the Ziwa Mo trophy this Saturday in Mpumalanga.
