The annual KZN Bakers Mini Cricket Festival will take place at Kingsmead on Saturday, February 2, from 1 pm.

The festival will be hosted by the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union and some 350 children are expected to attend the festival.

Bakers Mini Cricket was developed by Ali Bacher in a bid to promote the development of cricket amongst the youth of South Africa.

More than 100 000 children, from over 5 000 schools are currently involved in the Bakers programme. Many of South Africa’s cricketing heroes, such as Mark Boucher, Makhaya Ntini, Herschelle Gibbs and Shaun Pollock, started out playing Mini Cricket.
