THE Department of Education is still investigating the alleged head-butting of a Grade 5 pupil by a mathematics teacher at Woodlands Primary School two weeks ago.

The foster parent of a 10-year-old pupil opened an assault charge against the teacher, alleging that he had caught the teacher red-handed last week as he pulled the 10-year-old’s jersey and head-butted him.

Education Department spokesperson Sihle Mlotshwa said the allegations were being taken very seriously.

The teacher is still in his post at the school.
