LIONS RIVER farmer Vincent Ramsay, who was embroiled in a dispute with the KZN Housing Department over his right to occupy the farm Hollywood, which has been earmarked for the development of low cost housing, will be required to move from the property by September 30 in terms of a court order granted with the consent of both parties yesterday.

The agreement reached between the parties records that, in agreeing to move, Ramsay does not waive any right he may have to claim for enrichment arising from improvements he may have done. Nor does the department waive its rights arising from Ramsay having occupied and farmed the property.

The Housing Department approached the high court last month for an order to have Ramsay evicted as an “illegal squatter” from the farm where he is involved in an extensive farming operation, including dairy farming and cultivating vegetable crops. — WR.
