AN Mbango Valley resident who tried to book a flight with Studio88 Aviation last week ran into the same problems as others have experienced with the airline.

Ruth Bloem could not find their telephone number anywhere.

“I saw their advertisement for flights selling at R599 to Lanseria. Then I looked in the phone book and the airline was not listed. After this I tried phoning directory service, but the airline was also not listed. In desperation I phoned a car hire company who kindly gave me their number,” she said.

“Then when I phoned Studio88 I was told the flights were R995 plus VAT for a single flight to Lanseria. I explained that I had seen the advert for flights for R599 and was told bluntly that my ticket would be R995, without any reason being given.

“I was very disappointed so I then booked a return ticket from King Shaka … but my point is that we would all like the convenience of being able to travel from Margate. Not only that, but the attitude of this company was not good.”

When The Witness phoned the marketing and operations manager of Studio88, Nicolene le Roux, about Bloem’s complaint, she said: “We pay all our bills. We have approached Telkom numerous times regarding our number being listed so I can’t explain why it has not been done.”

As for the isssue of the ticket price, she said: “People must look at the advert and see that it says ‘from R599’.”
