THE unknown man found chained and abandoned on the N3 on Tuesday morning remains traumatised and unable to speak, police said yesterday.
The man was found by the Road and Traffic Inspectorate officials with chains wrapped tightly around his neck and feet and a rope binding his hands. He was lying curled on the ground above the Church Street bridge construction site, his head and feet covered with plastic bags.
Warrant officer Joey Jeevan said that due to the circumstances and the condition in which he was found, the police have opted to open an attempted murder charge.
“He had been chained and left on a railway line and it seems the intention was to kill him. Until he is able to speak and explain what happened, the police … are investigating a case of attempted murder.”
