‘No plan to oust S’bu Ndebele’

By Nathi Oliphant

THE KwaZulu-Natal ANC Provincial Working Committee (PWC) yesterday dismissed claims that there is a plan to oust provincial chairman S’bu Ndebele.

Provincial secretary-general Senzo Mchunu said the PWC met to reflect on the events surrounding the oncoming national conference in Limpopo.

“We confirm that Comrade Ndebele enjoys the support and full confidence of the KZN ANC leadership and as such will serve his full term of office,” he said.

Mchunu said the PWC called for an end to leadership attacks against each other.

“We need to remind all ANC cadres that there’s one ANC and the oncoming conference is not a conference of enemies but of ANC members and comrades,” said Mchunu.

He slammed a Sunday paper’s report regarding the current term of office of President Thabo Mbeki in government.

“We believe this creates a heightened tension which is completely unnecessary,” he said.

Mchunu said the ANC will hold a workshop for all the delegates to finalise their position on

policies and to emphasise the need for discipline and co-operation.
