IT has been almost two months since the national elections, yet election posters are still evident all around the city. The Msunduzi Municipality’s initial cut-off date for the removal of the posters was May 15. However, the municipality decided to extend the cut-off period to May 30, and even though this extension has come and gone, political party posters continue to litter city street poles, trees, bridges and buildings.

Msunduzi Municipality spokesperson Ntobeko Ngcobo said the municipality is investigating whether there are any remaining political party posters.

If there are, she added, the municipality will arrange for their removal and then deal with the people who are responsible for their removal. Parties that have not removed their posters are likely to be fined.
