Three new films come to town this weekend.

THERE are three films starting locally this weekend, all good news for action fans. Ster Kinekor has Jet Li’s Fearless while CineCentre is screening Shooter and Crank. 300 now joins the line-up at Nu Metro. Nehlle Pe Dehlle continues in CineCentre’s Sunday Bollywood slot.

• Jet Li’s Fearless is a Kung Fu movie, also known as Huo Yuan Jia. It tells the story of Huo, a Chinese martial arts master who lived from 1869 to 1910. Ronny Yu directs Jet Li, Shido Nakamura, Betty Sun and Yong Dong. It is obviously one for fans of the martial arts genre, with Jet Li doing his thing and, most reviews suggest, doing it well.

• Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor co-wrote and co-directed Crank, starring Jason Statham and Amy Smart. This is a thriller about a hitman with a lethal poison in his blood that will kill him if his heart rate drops below a certain level. One way of keeping the pace of the film up. It is likely to be violent and fast – and according to reviews, there is a great car chase.

• Shooter is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Mark Wahlberg, Michael Pena, Danny Glover and Kate Mara. Wahlberg plays a Marine sniper who lives as a recluse following an incident in Ethiopia where he was left for dead. But he is lured back into action following a plot to kill the president. However, all is not what it seems.
