Singing in close harmony

Witness Reporter

Music: All-female group back at the Hex

THE all-female singing group, Rapsodi, are back with their show of easy-listening popular light music, sung in close harmony, for just two performances at the Hexagon Dive on Friday and Saturday, February 1 and 2.

Under the musical direction of Helen Vermaak, whose last show Rock Rattle Ôn Roll was a sellout success, the show uses songs from as far back as George Gershwin, to as recent as the songs of Josh Groban and Celine Dion. Old favourites such as The Carpenters, Simon and Garfunkel, Barry Manilow, The Beatles and Barbra Streisand are represented, as well as songs from movies such as Flashdance and Mahogany.

The cast includes Adele van Vuuren, Petra Byloo and Lisa-Claire Garden with Vermaak at the piano.

The show is staged by Peter Mitchell, veteran director of many musicals at the Hexagon.

Shows are at 7 for 7.30 pm, in evening picnic format. Take along a picnic, but no drinks as there is a cash bar. Tickets are R35, or R30 per person for a table of ten. Bookings can be made at 033 260 5537 or via e-mail hexagon@ukzn.ac.za
