Ten things I hate in life

Kgomotso Matsunyane

A list of things by Kgomotso Matsunyane - a partner at Tom Pictures, an award-winning film and television company in Johannesburg.

1. Unsolicited and unavoidable advertising. Are there no sacred spaces any more?

2. Drivers who don’t turn their lights on when driving in the rain. It boggles the mind when morons don’t turn their headlights on so the rest of us can see them clearly.

3. Xenophobia. Immigrants from Africa make for very easy targets, especially in impoverished communities.

4. Embassy officials whose sole purpose is to humiliate people. I’m yet to visit a friendly embassy and I’ve travelled a fair bit in my time. Dude, you’re a bored, boring and underachieving paper pusher.

5. Sistas with weaves. You don’t honestly think anyone thinks it’s your own hair?

6. People who sms while driving. Need I say more?

7. Parents who let their little girls wear high heels and “sexy” clothing. Sexuality is difficult enough for adults to navigate, our children hardly need the baggage.

8. Mob psychology. Tell me one good thing that came out of angry commuters burning six trains in Tshwane last week? I sincerely hope there are cameras at the station that can be used to identify the thugs and prosecute them accordingly.

9. Lack of leadership. We need a firm leader who will hold his or her appointees accountable and deliver on the government’s promises to the proletariat.

10. And lastly, I’ve just about had it with female singers who declare their virginity, only to flash us their cherries in paparazzo pictures. Britney Spears, Kelly Osborne, is it absolutely necessary?
