A police officer was killed when a vehicle hit him while he was removing cattle from the main Boston road close to midnight on Saturday.

Inspector Mphendukelwa Poswa (48) was called to scene at about 11.30 pm. “After parking the police vehicle on the side of the road, with the lights and hazard lights on, with a torch to warn other motorists, he went to chase the cattle off the main road towards the neighbouring farm where the cattle belonged,” police said. He was hit by a motorist who failed to take heed of what was happening.

Poswa was attached to Boston SAPS and had several years of service.
