Condolences have been pouring in following the death of award winning gospel artist, Deborah Fraser.

Condolences have been pouring in following the death of award winning gospel artist, Deborah Fraser.

A statement released by the family on Sunday afternoon said Fraser died after midday in the presence of her family and friends following a short illness.

The family also asked to be given space to process and deal with the news.

Various people shared messages on social media describing Fraser as a role model who inspired them with her music.

Omuhle Nosihle wrote, “My heart is so broken, I still can’t believe it. Mama Deborah you were my role model, I loved you with my whole heart, pity you gone too soon…”

Mabenah Sanele wrote, “Thank you so much Mah for the unconditional love that you were giving us as your sons and daughters. Siyabonga [thank you] your music played a huge role in our lives and thank you for leaving us with the new album.”

Other gospel musicians sent out their condolences to the Frazer family and their friends.

Dr Rebecca Malope shared a video of her performance with Fraser on her Instagram page. She wrote, “What a great loss to us all. Lala ngoxolo sisi wami (rest in peace my sister) my deepest condolences to the family and friends of our beloved Deborah Fraser.”
