The Durban man who faces charges of theft and public violence after allegedly looting a basket of goods from Woolworths, has dumped his legal team due to financial challenges.
Mbuso Moloi appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday morning.
A video of Moloi went viral on social media after he was caught on camera, with a basket of goods he allegedly looted from Glenwood’s Woolworths store during the July unrest.
Moloi was seen loading goods into his Mercedes-Benz C300 Coupe which was parked on the opposite side of the road.
National Prosecuting Authority KZN Division regional spokesperson, Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, told The Witness that the matter had been set down for Moloi to plead guilty.
However, said Ramkisson-Kara, Moloi terminated the services of his attorney, saying that he does not have funds to pay his attorney.
Ramkisson-Kara matter was then adjourned to May 31, for Moloi to make an application for Legal Aid representation. Moloi’s bail of R5 000 was extended.
