Eskom has implemented stage 4 loadshedding from 5pm to 10pm on Monday night.
According to a statement released by Eskom, this is due to Unit 2 at Kusile power station tripping and taking 720mw off the grid.
“While this unit has since returned to service, it will slowly load up to full capacity during the night,” read the statement.
The statement continued to urge all citizens to help limit the impact of loadshedding by reducing the usage of electricity and to switch off all non-essential items.
“We urge all South Africans to continue using electricity sparingly especially between 5am to 9am in the mornings and 4pm to 10pm in the evenings,” read the statement.
