Eskom released a schedule detailing what stage the power utility would be load shedding every day until Thursday next week, July 21.

South Africans should brace themselves for more load shedding after Eskom announced that it will load shed until Thursday next week.

Load shedding will then be reduced to stage 3 at 5 am on Friday until midnight.

“It is anticipated stages 1 and 2 will be required for Saturday, with stage 2 load shedding only implemented at 4 pm to 10 pm on Sunday.

“Should anything change in the intervening period, Eskom will communicate and implement any changes as may be necessary,” said Eskom in a statement.

Eskom also released a schedule detailing what stage the power utility would be load shedding every day until Thursday next week, July 21.

Load shedding schedule

The power utility said it anticipates lower stages of load shedding to be implemented next week as some units return to service. Eskom said this will be confirmed closer to the time, or as major changes occur.

“We currently have 4 501MW on planned maintenance, while another 16 320MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.

As the generation capacity shortages persist over the next few weeks, load shedding will continue to be implemented at various stages. Eskom cautions the public that it will still take a few weeks for the power generation system to recover.

Eskom has once again reminded the public that load shedding is implemented only as a last resort to protect the national grid.

“We therefore urge all South Africans to continue using electricity sparingly especially during these uncertain times on the power system.”
