Two of Pietermaritzburg’s renowned institutions, Mi7 and Gift of the Givers, were awarded for their contribution to society on Wednesday evening at the Standard Bank KZN Top Business Awards for 2022.

The accolade was awarded to a business “that can demonstrate an innovative approach to products, or processes, which has contributed to the success of the business.”

“When Mi7 National Group established its armed response service in March 2021, it had to set itself apart in an already saturated market.

“By incorporating the company’s public service model with a number of digital innovations, the company was able to transcend traditional service models in the industry, adopting a proactive approach to crime prevention for the entire community, client or not.

“This has led to Mi7 National Group’s armed response being a formidable stakeholder in Pietermaritzburg’s security cluster after only a year since its establishment.

“This award is for our dedicated teams who begin and end each day in the service of their communities. It is for our clients who have entrusted us with their protection. It is for our entire community, which has encouraged and inspired us to be better. We are proud to have this honour bestowed upon us.

“It serves as motivation for us to continue delivering the exemplary service our clients and communities expect,” said Karien.

He went on to extend their appreciation to the team and judging panel at the Standard Bank KZN Top Business Awards.

Founder of Gift of the Givers, Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, said he accepts the award on behalf of everyone who has been pivotal in making Gift of the Givers a success.

The award comes on the eve of the organisation’s 30th anniversary.

“I accept the award on behalf of my family, our teams and all the citizens of our country as our achievements and success are based on a collective, for without each other we are nothing.

“A special thanks to my family for their huge sacrifice and our teams for the incredible long hours they put in to serve humanity unconditionally.

“A special thanks to both KZN Top Business and Standard Bank, with whom we have a long-standing relationship. This award comes on the eve of our 30th anniversary of Gift of the Givers, which was born on August 6, 1992,” said Sooliman.
