Another business was robbed on Tuesday, this time in Theatre Lane in the Pietermaritzburg CBD.
The incident has left staff traumatised. The finance company involved opted to close until further notice.
B-Security Armed Response, which attended the scene said that staff members were opening the door for a woman when a man with a firearm pushed the door open and entered.
The security company said the robbers then helped themselves to money and cell phones belonging to clients and staff who were inside the business. It is alleged that they then fled on foot in different directions.
When The Witness arrived at the scene, the business had a notice outside, notifying clients that it was “closed until further notice”.
Clients were being turned away.
A number of people who were in the vicinity said they were aware of the robbery and had seen a group of men running.
This incident comes after businesses were warned by security companies to strengthen their security measures amid the increase in business robberies across the city.
Last week, four business robberies were reported in Pietermaritzburg.
Police did not respond to queries by the time of publication.
