Pietermaritzburg is one of the many cities that are engulfed with potholes.
To assist government’s efforts in maintaining local roads and as a show of commitment to its investment in the city of Pietermaritzburg, from of April 5 the Willowton Group embarked on a Pothole Project to repair damaged sections of the road along Ohrtmann Road.
Willowton Group is one of South Africa’s leading FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) manufacturer, operating from its Pietermaritzburg facility, with locations in Johannesburg and Cape Town. In addition to its production of well-known consumer brands, the group said it is committed to community upliftment through dedicated social empowerment projects and funding.
In a statement, engineering manager at the Willowton Group Mohamed Ishfaaq Moosa said that this project was one of the many social responsibility undertakings by the Willowton Group that aims to improve their local area.
“We have enjoyed more than 50 years of operating in the ‘City of Choice’ and will continue to do all we can to maintain our beautiful city.
“We call on industries on Ohrtmann Road to follow our lead and assist in bringing Ohrtmann Road to a safe and aesthetically appealing road,” said Moosa.
