A truck driver was arrested in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal, for allegedly trying to transport drugs from Gauteng.
According to a statement from Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo, spokesperson for the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), they received information about a truck unloading cargo in that area on July 14.
“They proceeded to the said warehouse and a search was conducted. Whilst opening boxes, 35 kilograms of crystal meth with a street value of approximately R5.2 million was found,” said Mhlongo.
The 33-year-old truck driver was arrested and charged with drug dealing.
