Letters | Diluted Currie Cup

Cecil Pienaar

I agree somewhat with my friend Anthony Timms from across the river saying the famous Currie Cup is being diluted (The Witness, June 17).

I never used to miss a Sharks game, but now I couldn’t care less. It’s become a business, and the influx of Stormers is not for me. High profile, expensive players are not delivering. Maybe they should do less TV adverts and play more rugby.

Well done to the Bulls and the Stormers with their top-two finishes in the URC competition.

Huge congratulations to the underdogs, the Griquas and Pumas, for showing up the big boys to reach the Curry Cup final. This is David and Goliath stuff, no excuses from the bigger boys, especially the Free State with its UK experience.
