This after he last week allegedly lambasted the ANC in the Moses Mabhida region for deploying councillors who do not have the capacity to lead.

The DA feels vindicated by this statement. For years we have been pointing out that Msunduzi’s problems stem from poor political decisions and skewed priorities as a result of the ANC’s majority in council.

Khathide allegedlywent on to say that the DA’s process of appointing councillors is better than that of the ANC’s. The DA strives at all times to ensure that the best applicants are put forward to represent the interests of the public, always placing our principles of fitness for purpose above blind party loyalty or connections to those in positions of influence.

The DA manages to do this while ensuring diverse caucuses in terms of race, gender, skills, sexual orientation, age and other criteria. It is also not scared to take action against those who underperform.

Khathide is an example of a civil servant who is tired of taking the blame for incompetent cadres who are frustrating his, and others, efforts to turn municipalities around.

KZN’s citizens can no longer be held ransom by ANC deployees who have no interest or capacity to turn collapsing local government around. There is hardly a municipality in KZN that is functional at the most basic of measurements and in the end, the people of our province are suffering because of it.

We reiterate our view that the Msunduzi leadership must be dissolved and fresh elections held to put new political leadership in place.
