LETTER:
There is only one cure for unemployment.
Government is funded by taxes. Taxes are paid by private businesses and individuals. So surely the government must create an environment that is business friendly?
Business could then prosper, pay larger taxes and afford to hire more people to cover the load.
This would, in turn, work to increase the taxes that government receives and allow for infrastructure project, more jobs and social spending.
Infrastructure = hospitals, schools and road networks, etc.
Social spending = doctors, nurses and teachers employed. Of course, then there is elderly care and people who cannot work.
Then we just keep it going in a feeding circle. Simple really — Economics 101.
