Comrades Marathon officials are confident that the Comrades Expo will once again bring together runners, supporters, race sponsors, road running dignitaries and local and international visitors.
They have confirmed that the event will run from Thursday, August 25, to Saturday, August 27, at the Durban International Convention Centre (DICC) for the first time in 22 years. Race day follows on the Sunday, featuring around 16 000 runners.
Spread over 5 000 square metres, this year’s Expo is expected to be another innovative and exciting affair with 70% of exhibitor stands already taken up, according to the Comrades Marathon Association.
“Renowned for showcasing the best sports brands and the latest in running apparel, footwear and accessories, fitness equipment and allied products, this Expo is not to be missed,” the Pietermaritzburg-based organisation said in a statement.
The Comrades Expo enjoys its status as South Africa’s and Africa’s largest running related expo; and has, over the years, been attracting more than 110 exhibitors and over 50 000 visitors.
“It is an integral part of Comrades race week and serves as the official registration point for The Ultimate Human Race, with thousands of athletes converging on the DICC to collect their race packs, goodie bags, shop for running apparel and merchandise, get advice from the official Comrades Coach, share information and finalise registration ahead of race day.”
