The eThekwini Volleyball National Championships makes a major comeback this year in a partnership with UKZN Sport.
The tournament returns to its spiritual home, UKZN Westville Sports Centre and will be staged on August 6 and 7, according to organisers.
The competition’s core value has always been to celebrate and present masters players with the platform to reconnect and play the sport they love.
eThekwini Volleyball interim president, Myron Naicker said:
It’s great to see the competition return after two years. It’s been well supported over the years and we are confident that we will have a big turnout once again.
The competition has been backed by Johannesburg based business, Teqture and boasts a prize pool of R20 000.
Shanil Deyal, owner of Teqture said:
We are very excited to get involved with this year’s tournament. It is a competition which embodies the spirit of the game as well as a strong family ethos. We are looking forward to another successful event.
“We are very grateful for Shanil’s support. In addition to the prize pool, he has also pledged a further R10000 towards the running of the competition,” Naicker explained.
The tournament has once again attracted teams from around the country and will be hosted across four age categories. Matches will be played across four courts at the UKZN Westville Sports Centre.
“UKZN Volleyball is proud to partner with eThekwini Volleyball on this event. It’s a tournament which has showcased master’s volleyball well over the years. We are excited about getting involved once again,” said Roshnee Naicker, UKZN Volleyball.
