Kaizer Chiefs great and GladAfrica Championship analyst Absalom “Scara” Thindwa says the team that gets promoted to the DStv Premiership should get it for what they did on the pitch, not the boardroom.

The promotional play-offs were scheduled to start on Tuesday afternoon with Richards Bay FC hosting Royal AM.

However, Royal AM are said to have appealed the court’s decision to crown Sekhukhune United as GladAfrica Championship winners.

“The way we are doing things, is it a right way or not? The leaders must ask themselves why are we always having this problem. Can’t we find a solution to the problem?

“Let’s look at the problems where are they coming from, then we will fix that. The competition on its own it’s a good competition,” said Thindwa.

“You know to have a sponsor like the GladAfrica brought a lot of excitement. When teams win now there’s an amount that they get which is substantial in my books.

“We should have the GladAfrica Championship (attached to the PSL) but it must be run in a different way. If there are shortcomings let’s look at the rules.”

Thindwa discourage clubs from relying too much on boardrooms for their problems. “I wish whichever team that gets promoted, gets promoted because of what they’ve done in the pitch. Not (because of) what they’ve done in the boardroom. A team that gets promoted should be the one that does a good job.”
