Thirteen people were injured in a collision between a mini-bus taxi and car on Saturday morning on the M4 between Umhlanga and La Lucia, Durban North.

Thirteen people were injured in a collision between a mini-bus taxi and car on Saturday morning on the M4 between Umhlanga and La Lucia, Durban North.

Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, said reports indicate that a fully laden mini-bus taxi and car were involved in the collision, resulting in both vehicles leaving the road. Durban Metropolitan Police Search and Rescue, Durban Metropolitan Police, Durban North SAPS, Marshall Security, ALS Paramedics, Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services and KZN EMS were at the scene. 

“Medics found that twelve occupants from the taxi had sustained minor to moderate injuries. The driver of the car, an adult female had sustained moderate injuries.”

He said the woman was treated on scene by a Netcare 911 emergency care practitioner while the Fire and Rescue Services used hydraulic tools to free her from the vehicle.Once stabilised, all patients were transported to hospital for further care.
