Zini zebra’s new addition

A special gift was 'delivered' at a Zini backpackers

SANTA delivered an early Christmas present at Nature’s Way Backpackers in Mtunzini.

A zebra foal graced the locals with his presence last month and has made mom Savanna and dad Jabula very happy.

The foal who has still not been named, has taken like a fish to water in the subtropical indigenous forest and is keeping patrons of Nature’s Way amused for hours with his frolicking about and horse play.

The new addition to the Zini zebras has been a hot topic of late and people from all over Zululand are popping in to see the little guy.

‘He loves the fire, when the sun starts setting you will see him and his mom amble up to it and just stand there soaking up the warmth,’ Claude Lango laughs. Mtunzini has a reputation for having zebra roam freely on the golf course and around town.

‘My children love seeing them, it makes their day,’ a resident, with two children, said.

‘They have become the town’s mascot and an addition to the group is fantastic,’ another resident explained.

Jabula, Savanna and their foal can be seen on a daily basis grazing on the beautiful grasslands or around the log fire listening to the local chatter.
