NEWLY appointed KwaZulu-Natal Minister of Finance, Belinda Scott, announced on Friday that four provincial departments will be reshuffled.
Speaking at the Legislature Buildings in Pietermaritzburg, Scott said changes to the previously named Department of Agriculture and Environmental Affairs (DAEA) and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT) will soon be formalised.
These include Environmental Affairs, which will be added to the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, and Rural Development, now joining the Department of Agriculture.
Gaming and Betting will also be transferred from the Office of the Premiere to Provincial Treasury; and conservation group, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife will be moved from the newly established Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs.
‘We take our watchdog role very seriously and will ensure responsible spending,’ said Scott.
‘We will deal with corruption and deliberate wrongdoing, unauthorized and irregular expenditure, get value for money and eliminate unnecessary costs and wastage.
‘Clean Audits need to be a given.’
