Ulundi miners continue strike
Miners are contract workers and are demanding permanent posts.

THE 50 miners, who started a sit-in at one of the shafts at the Zululand Anthracite Colliery outside Ulundi earlier this month, are determined to carry on with their protest action.
Shop steward and AMCU member, Buhlebakhe Dubazane said the miners are contract workers and are demanding permanent posts.
They were in the service of a sub-contractor whose contract was not renewed by the management and the workers have since been without work.
The miners say they are prepared to die for their cause.
Management replacement
On Monday this week residents from Ulundi took to the streets and blockaded the road with stones and burning tyres.
They were demanding that the mine management be replaced.
The residents claim that management is not adhering to the provisions of the Mines Act and are polluting their drinking water.
Attempts to contact the mine management has proven unsuccessful.
