Rich Boyz fight hard for a point

Richards Bay FC match against Polokwane City ends in stalemate

Richards Bay FC travelled to the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night looking for three points, but in the end had to settle for one after a 0-0 stalemate with Polokwane City.

It was a workmanlike performance, but one that was lacking in creativity without star playmaker Sanele Barns, who was suspended for one game after accumulating yellow cards.

There was simply no one with his ability to hit pinpoint corners and dead balls, which is what the strikers have thrived on this season.

The single point was better than nothing, but the side will have to play out of their socks if they want to win their formidable final three fixtures, starting with a tough away contest against Orlando Pirates this Saturday.

Then it’s another road trip to Cape Town City on Saturday, 18 May and finally a home game against Stellenbosch on 25 May.

Realistically, it looks like the Rich Boyz will be thrown into the promotion-relegation play-offs, but they have the quality to upset the odds and could take three points in each of their remaining fixtures.
