NRB ready to go through to knockout semifinals

Richards Bay FC to lock horns with Cape Town City at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi

After getting through to the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup quarterfinals, Richards Bay FC will lock horns with Cape Town City at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Saturday.

The second phase of the competition sees the remaining eight teams set to battle to go through the semi-finals.

The Natal Rich Boys narrowly went through to the quarterfinals after beating Sekhukhune United 1-0 at the same venue.

The players said they know that they have a mission ahead of them, but they are determined to make the next round.

Speaking during a press briefing on Thursday, players told the media they are ambitious and want to compete in every competition plus the league.

Defender, Keagan Allan said they want to make every game count, and the coach and technical team, directors, and the entire team are pushing as hard as they can.

“We have a wonderful support base; we want to go all out and make sure that KZN is represented at the next stage,” he said.

He added that they know Cape Town City is a good team from top to bottom and has a good foundation.

Richards Bay FC were defeated 2-0 by Sekhukhune FC on Tuesday night, while their opponent lost to Mamelodi Sundowns by three goals to nil.

The NRB goal minder, Ian Otieno said he was happy to be part of the NRB squad.

“For now my objective is to keep on playing more games and do my best. The team wants to stay in the PSL and win silverware.

“Our last game is our past, we were all disappointed for losing the game. Those are things that we will fix on the field. We all ready to give out best shot in this Saturday’s game,” he said.
