Five new online mental health support groups launched – SADAG

The support group for new parents and caregivers will be launched on May 15 and will meet every second Wednesday via Zoom from 11:00.

The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) has announced the launch of five new online mental health support groups scheduled to start in May.

These support groups will provide a space for people facing mental health challenges to connect, share experiences, receive support from their peers and cover a range of mental health topics.

Starting with the stress and anxiety group launching on May 10 at 17:00, the group will then meet twice a month.
This group will be facilitated by Nthabiseng who can be contacted on WhatsApp at 082 930 8634.

A support group for abuse survivors is launching on May 16 at 10:00, then once a week on Thursdays.

The group will be facilitated by Aretha who may be contacted at 083 657 5838.

The depression group will launch on May 18 at 15:00. From there the group will meet twice a month.

Depression, anxiety, and stress for young adults (18 – 35 years old) is launching on May 22.

The group will meet every Wednesday at 19:00.

Each support group will be led by a trained support group leader who specialises in the respective topic areas.

“Members can expect a confidential and non-judgmental environment where they can share their experiences and receive support from others facing similar challenges,” said Jane Mashava of SADAG.

Lerato, group leader for depression, anxiety and stress for young adults, shared why she started the group.
