Pinetown craft group knits up a storm

The knitting ladies at Pinetown Baptist Church have made beautiful items which include toys, beanies, blankets, scarves and even dresses.

LADIES at Pinetown Baptist Church are using their hands to knit up a storm and put a smile on the faces of the less privileged.

The members of the church were given an idea to start a craft club about three months ago, which they welcomed gratefully.

In the short time since they have started knitting, the group has made beautiful items which include toys, beanies, blankets, scarves and even dresses.

One of the knitting ladies, Stella Joseph, said that most of the wool they use has been donated.

“Most of this batch will be taken and distributed to Lesotho.”

Another church member, Marion Tolken, said they are hoping to find a small retirement home or children’s home around the

Pinetown area that they can donate the items to.

“We don’t want to just donate but we want to also build a relationship with the place,” she said.
