Pinehaven ladies knit up a storm for charity

The knitting team at Pinehaven made more than 100 toys in support of the Toy Run.

THE Pinehaven ladies did it again and knitted a substantial number of toys for children’s homes in support of the Toy Run.

The Toy Run is South Africa’s largest motorcycle ride, and it’s all for charity. Every year, tens of thousands of motorcycle riders, and the general public, rally together to give joy to the needy children of South Africa countrywide.

This initiative brings joy and makes a difference to the lives of children in shelters such as orphanages and places of safety.

The knitting team, from both the retirement village and the lodge, because of their love of crocheting and giving back to the community, especially children, donated more than 100 toys for the event.

Biker Thea Hobkirk said this is the third year that she has collected the toys from the ladies.

“They are wonderful ladies with big hearts,” she said.

“They enjoy knitting for good causes. They said they love the bikers and even have their own children and grandchildren who ride bikes.

“Some even ride their own bikes or ride pillion. So a big thanks to those who made so many children’s hearts happy this Christmas,” said a grateful Hobkirk.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
