Stage 2 loadshedding returns between 4pm and 10pm for next three days [TIMES]

KwaDukuza's northern grid will be affected twice, while the southern grid will be affected once.

Eskom has announced that Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented during peak evening periods from today, Tuesday, May 13, until Thursday, May 15.

The power cuts will occur daily between 4pm and 10pm, a schedule the power utility said it has chosen to ensure steady supply during working hours.

According to Eskom, the need for loadshedding has been caused by the delayed return of generation units totalling 3 120mw, along with the additional loss of 1 385mw over the past 24 hours due to unexpected breakdowns.

Unplanned losses have pushed the unavailable capacity to over 13 000mw.

Eskom explained that while the utility is emerging from a period of intense maintenance to improve long-term reliability, the short-term impact has reduced the grid’s flexibility, making it more vulnerable to sudden disruptions.

Loadshedding times

On KwaDukuza’s Northern Grid, power will be off on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4pm to 5.30pm. No loadshedding is forecast for Thursday.

On KwaDukuza’s Southern Grid, power will only go off on Tuesday from 4pm to 5.30pm. There are no interruptions forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.

Residents are advised to treat all electrical infrastructure as “live” during loadshedding periods.
