Relief options for ratepayers under financial strain

Residents, businesses and non-profit organisations can apply for eThekwini's debt relief programme.

RATEPAYERS who are in debt to the eThekwini Municipality for 90 days or more have until July 31 to apply to be included in the debt relief programme. The programme is aimed at residents, businesses and non-profit organisations.

The ratepayer is required to make a down payment as determined by the municipality, and after the agreement is signed, an instalment will have to be paid each month. By defaulting on payment or paying less than what is required, the agreement will come to an end.

Visit the nearest Sizakala Centre with the necessary supporting documents and speak to a revenue official.
