This event aims to offer local youth a platform to showcase their talents and foster community involvement.

Heidi Geyser, the association’s treasurer, shared the motivation behind organising the talent show. “We want to give children an opportunity to express their talents, which they sometimes feel they should keep hidden. It’s about creating a space where they can explore and display their abilities without feeling insecure,” said Geyser.

Proceeds from the event will go towards maintaining the recreational hall. “The hall’s bathrooms need to be retiled, and the flooring requires much-needed attention,” Geyser explained. By hosting the talent show, the association hopes to raise funds for these improvements while also encouraging community engagement.

Geyser emphasised the broader goal of promoting extracurricular activities among children. “We want to encourage children to get involved in activities other than just watching TV and playing games.”

Registrations for the talent show will open on June 1 at 14:00 at the Montclair Recreational Hall. The entry fee is R50 for individual acts and R100 for group performances. Participants will need to confirm their acts and secure their spots to ensure they align with the event’s guidelines.

The winner of the talent show will receive a share of R2 000 and additional prizes, making it a compelling opportunity for young talents in the area. Geyser is also calling on local churches and schools to encourage their children to participate in the event.
