Sharing warmth and love with senior citizens

Tsakane - Showing care and sharing with others is what Thandeka Sibanyoni (24) believes will put smiles on the faces of the needy.

The young woman from Tsakane Extension Eight donated blankets to senior citizens at the Tsakane Old Age Home on Saturday.

She used her first salary to buy blankets to ensure that old people keep warm this winter.

Sibanyoni recently started working as a secretary.

She says she loves to share and it has always been her wish to use her first salary to put smiles on the faces of others from her community.

“I believe that in order for me to get blessings and success in life, I need to give back to the community and not allow others to suffer while I have more than enough,” she says.

While Sibanyoni does not earn much, she says she will continue to help those who need her help.

She encourages other young people to bring a positive change in the community.

Sibanyoni believes poverty and hunger will end if people start to share and show love for each other.

“Our communities do not need the government to intervene to better the lives of the citizens, but need community members who will stand together and help each other to fight poverty and inequality,” she says.

Tsakane Old Age Home manager Phoko Mokubung thanked Sibanyoni for her generous donation.

“Her donation came at the right time when the senior citizens need to keep warm during this freezing season,” says Mokubung.

He challenges the youth of Kwatsaduza to join Sibanyoni in trying to ensure a better community where everyone feels special and loved.
