City of Joburg customers give e-Joburg self-help portal a thumbs up

At least 70% of the City of Joburg customers are reportedly satisfied and find the e-Joburg self-help portal easy to navigate.

A number of City of Joburg customers are slowly embracing the e-Joburg self-help portal.

The portal is a self-service portal that enables ratepayers, homeowners, and companies to view and download their current and historical municipal bills, as well as pay their municipal accounts electronically.

According to a released statement by the City, the new feature enables the customer to send their own electricity and water meter readings to the City. The customer gets a notification, which prompts them to submit their own readings when they are due.

Maphologela notes that there seems to be a huge appetite from registered users to use e-Joburg to send their own meter readings directly to the City.

According to the survey, there has been a sharp increase of customers submitting their metering readings using the self-help platform.

“We welcome the recent developments which shows that customers want to be part of their bill development by submitting their own meter readings. This also suggests that they’re monitoring their own consumption,” he said.
