Viktor a musician on a different mission

Once voted best hip hop artist – Viktor Matoto aims to foster a culture of hard work for anyone who wants to succeed in life with his song Nomayini.

Rising Xitsonga music star Viktor Matoto is set to release his song titled Nomayini which emphasises the willingness to do whatever it takes to be successful and live the soft life of his dreams.

The amapiano and hip-hop artist, who sings in his mother tongue Xitsonga, was born Muhluri Mabaza but is popularly known in music circles as Viktor Matoto. He was voted Best Hip Hop Newcomer Act of 2023 in the KZN Namuhla Artist Awards.\

His writing and rhyming skills using his mother tongue Xitsonga sets him apart from the crowd.

“The song has a kwaito touch and more of the amapiano sound which makes it more groovy. It contains rap bars which makes it more sophisticated and yet very educational,” Matoto said.

Matotos’ music has been well received by people of different languages in the country and makes his audience bigger than expected. He named the song Nomayini after the slang term used by beggars/car patrols when asking for change or money from people.

“The message behind this song is to teach people not to judge beggars on the streets for they might not know the reason why that individual is in that situation. It also encourages the youth to be willing to work hard and do whatever it takes to succeed and live a soft life.”

In this song, Matoto features Ngud_98 and is produced by PJay. The song is set to be available on all digital platforms on April 26.
