Budding young fashion designer dreams big

Anathi Tshaka's Thee Eversmile Clothing brand aims to suit different people's tastes and styles.

An aspiring fashion designer and founder of Thee Eversmile Clothing brand Anathi Boitumelo Tshaka (23) from Alexandra has never let her circumstances stop her from achieving her dream of owning a clothing brand.

Tshaka did not attend any fashion school she is inspired by her love for art. Her passion for fashion and designing started at a very young age as she used to do some designs and paintings. She then started her clothing brand in January 2022.

“I started Thee Eversmile Clothing in January 2022, driven by my love for art, fashion, and the desire to provide a platform for self-expression through clothing,” she said.

Tshaka explained Thee Eversmile Clothing as a brand that offers customisable apparel to suit various tastes and creates a platform for local artists to showcase their work through social events. She has collaborated with various creatives, including Unimab Events & Media and other local artists from Alexandra.

Tshaka designs hoodies, sweaters, T-shirts and denim jeans to suit different people’s styles.

“With me, it’s more of artist’s culture, since I’m hosting social events for local artists. I feel that each one of them has his/ her style. Almost every artist expresses themselves through clothing and each has his or her own taste and style with the way a person is dressed. It’s easy to identify if he is a pantsula or skrr-skrr then I design clothes that will suit everyone’s taste.”

Anathi hosts events twice a year for local artists, poets and dancers from Alexandra so that they can be recognised, connect and make relationships with artists from other townships.

“I believe in fostering unity and have a passion for empowering creatives. Our social events, launched in 2022, feature different concepts focused on showcasing art and fostering connections within the creative community.”

Tshaka said in times of difficulties what keeps her moving are the artists she is working with because they always remind her of the good things she has done and her slogan which says ‘Blissful journey continues’.
