Better Bedfordview hosts movie night for a fundraiser

Funds raised from the movie night will support Better Bedfordview’s community clean-ups and neighborhood improvement projects.

Community clean-up non-profit organisation (NPO) Better Bedfordview recently hosted a Movie Night Under the Stars fundraiser at Glendower Golf Club.

According to the NPO, the event united community members of all ages for an evening of fun and support for an important cause, achieving resounding success.

Over 170 residents attended the movie night, enjoying free popcorn and delicious offerings on the takeaway menu from The Tee Bar & Grill, a longstanding supporter that generously provided the venue.

The event also featured a blanket drive for the Germiston Bedfordview SPCA and an exciting raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.

Marina Constas, Better Bedfordview chairperson, thanked the prize sponsors including Land Rover Bedfordview, the 11th Floor Restaurant, A n j. collective, Eden Perfumes, Franco International, and Synergise Spa.

“Your generosity made our movie night a truly unforgettable experience,” she said.

Residents attending the event also supported the blanket drive, donating 48 blankets and a dog jacket to the Germiston Bedfordview SPCA to help keep animals warm during the chilly months.

Funds raised from the movie night will support Better Bedfordview’s community clean-ups and neighborhood improvement projects.

These initiatives also create employment for youth and previously unemployed South Africans, with 21 people currently on the clean-up team.

Constas emphasised the importance of community support, stating, “We are honored to connect our community.

Engaged, caring, committed, and united community members can achieve a better Bedfordview and a better South Africa.

“Bringing people together and sharing memorable moments is essential. Supporting businesses that support our community is crucial.”
