Mr Sershin Naicker, the Wits student recruitment officer, presented a framed certificate to the headmistress, Ms Dina Gonçalves, during a recent assembly.
Mr Naicker said, “We applaud you and your team of dedicated educators for your efforts in preparing these learners for excellence in the many fields of higher education. It also includes areas in which your school has excelled beyond the standards currently being achieved by your peer institutions of secondary education. We know you value education in its holistic sense and look forward to welcoming learners who are well rounded and excited about making a contribution to both the African society and the global community in all spheres.”
A third of the matric class of 2012 enrolled as first year students at Wits in 2013. A total of 11 girls registered for commerce, nine registered for education, four registered for engineering and three registered for medical-related fields.
