Tony and Marie celebrate 60 years

Tony and Marie have been involved in Rotary International for over 57 years. Tony is a past president of the Rotary Club of Bedfordview.

Tony and Marie Serrano celebrated their 60th anniversary on February 16.

After meeting through mutual friends and family, Tony and Marie married in 1953 and lived, worked and started their life together in Barotseland. They moved to Zambia and their four children were born there before they moved to Morninghill in Bedfordview in 1971.

Tony and Marie have been involved in Rotary International for over 57 years. Tony is a past president of the Rotary Club of Bedfordview.

He and Marie were later elected to the position of district governor in 1983 and 1984, before moving upwards into the international arena of the organisation.

In 1994 and 1995 Tony along with Marie as a supportive and competent assistant, served as the Rotary International director. From 2000 to 2004 they served as the Rotary International Trustee of the Rotary Foundation.

Despite both being 84, Tony and Marie still are active, healthy and able to give of their time in service to the community. Marie and Tony have four children, a son and three daughters.

They also have five grandchildren.
