Sam swims to raise awareness

The championships was a 3km swim that took place the day after the Midmar.

Local swimmer Sam Hillier, from the Unique Swimming Club, completed the Midmar 8 Mile Club Swim on February 8.

She completed the swim to raise awareness for her charity drive, Save the Rhinos. Sam was also selected to represent Central Gauteng Aquatics at the SA Open Water Championships.

The championships was a 3km swim that took place the day after the Midmar.

This is the fourth time 18-year-old Sam has completed the 8-Mile Club, completing it for the first time when she was just 15. This was also her ninth year of participating at the Midmar, making it a total of 37 times she has crossed the Midmar Dam. Sam, a past pupil of Reddam House and last year’s swimming captain, has been swimming since she was 2.
