Two Edenvale Police Officers were seriously injured when the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident on First Avenue last week.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 25.
The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, confirmed that the two officers were responding to a call for a house robbery in progress when the collision occurred.
“Three police vehicles were responding to a call out. At the intersection of First Avenue and Tenth Street a civilian vehicle and the SAPS vehicle in front collided. The SAPS vehicle then collided with another vehicle and flipped onto its side,” said Lt Col Roberts.
The SAPS vehicle then slid approximately 20 metres before coming to rest on the pavement.
“The two officers were transported to hospital in a serious but stable condition,” said Lt Col Roberts.
The driver from one of the civilian vehicles was also taken to hospital with slight injuries.
On Friday, both officers remained in a serious condition in hospital.
“The female officer, who was the passenger in the vehicle, underwent surgery on her arm which was broken in six places, on Thursday morning,” said Lt Col Roberts.

Speaking at the Community Police Forum on Thursday night, chairperson Mrs Linda McKenzie said the officers are in their thoughts.
